BELLE OF LOUISVILLE CELEBRATES 100 YEARS ON THE RIVER

CENTENNIAL FESTIVAL OF STEAM BOATS

The Belle of Louisville is turning 100 and Louisville is celebrating with a big bash for her.

Louisville will play host to a six day festival of food, art,  music and bourbon October 14 through October 19. There will be nine historic riverboats docked on the mighty Ohio along the Waterfront Park. The whole week will be filled with opportunities to watch riverboat races, listen to each boat's calliope tunes, cruise on your pick of the boats for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner and watch a balloon glow.

The opening ceremony will have a parade and fireworks and special dinner cruise on the Belle. The Belle's Birthday Bash will also have River Industry Display with tours of boats and river lore stories and display of steam engines and knots.

There are activities that will appeal to people of all ages. This is a rare chance to glimpse a bygone era in a contemporary setting.
